The bochs emulator gave me an error message after Windows loaded the initial setup files. It says:

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

With regards to the potential solution, I might try it if the links in the persons blog to the Vista boot files etc actually worked.

from what I glossed over I think Gateway has a CSM module in EFI to boot legacy BIOS computers to WinXP MCE. I'm guessing that since Gateway built the hardware it wont be the same as getting whatever info from Apple to build a CSM with legacy BIOS support to boot a Macbook Pro to 32bit WinXP.

Also heard rumors that elilo isnt the most stable either.

plus it's rather late so I may just be sleep deprived enough to have further convoluted what I faintly remember. Think I'll just doze off to my dreams of a 12" Macbook Pro release with WinXP dual-boot compatibility announced by Steve Jobs himself. ZZzz.....
