I agree with everyones comments on here. We bought a timeshare after massive sales pressure at Westgate Lakes in 2004. We've only managed to go back once in 2008 and we just want to get rid of it. The whole experience has totally put me off America. I wish I'd never been to the sales presentation and bought the timeshare. I'm desperate to get rid of it or even give it away.

Had my timeshare at Westgate Lakes resort for almost 6 years and only managed to get there for a holiday once in all that time. I agree with everyones comments here. Can I get them to just take it back for free as I just want to walk away from it. The whole experience has put me off an American holiday.

Westgate Resorts, timeshare endorsements or claim of endorsements by USA TODAY, Fortune, Orlando Sentinel, The Wall Street Journal, New York Times and others listed by them in the member enrollment BOOK, are misleading. For example the Fortune article, part that is highlighted and magnified "...four could save $40,000 over 25 years" the actual article by FAYE RICE dated June 12, 1995 says "...four could save $30,000 over 25 years". The embellishment from $30,000 to $40,000 is not the only lie. Research the others in their statements. either don't ex hist or misleading. Our one hour session promised to be only 1 hour resulted into 7 hour session. For my self, I depended on the articles given to me and my spouse reflecting respectable NEWS sources as being accurate. When those articles are modified or don't exhist this is intend to defraud. I am seeking legal representation and with the possibility of filing suit for fraud. Also all the information is being forwarded to the Florida AG. The question is? are the acts of Westgate resorts civil or criminal or both. If you were given their documents reflecting "TIMESHARE ENDORSEMENTS" reflecting the supposed positive statements by major News organizations, please see if you have legal recourse on canceling contract and getting a refund. If this is not fraud then what is!!

I am a Westgate owner and am totally unhappy with them. They have their heads so far up their asses they can't take care of their current owners. Everytime I call them for anything I get into some kind of argument with the representative. My husband is military and we had the special interest rate when he was deployed. Our interest rate was changed 3 different times when he returned, and no one could give me an explanation as to why. The person I spoke with was arguing with me telling me that he couldn't understand why I was complaining about an error in my favor. Is this good customer service considering your error that you made in MY FAVOR is the reason your sorry ass has a job? I don't think so. Good news is we have just recently sold our timeshare from this horrible corporation and we longer have to deal with those assholes! I want them to know that I will NEVER reccomend them to anyone one to rent or purchase!!

I must say, my husband I were scammed by Westgate Resorts, specifically Lisa our sales person. We went to Westgate Orlando Florida for the weekend to try the timeshare thing, We were not going to buy. We declined their offer several times. We were not interested and had enough bills. When I told her we had enough bills, she said that Westgate Resorts report to the credit bureaus every month as a mortgage property. That sold us. It sold us because with a mortagage property on our credit reports we could refinance a few thing and maybe consolidate with proff that we have mortage property with a low balance, !0,000 grand. This would also increase our fico score! We were impressed with our seemingly financial wit.
We waited 90 days to pull our credit after we purchased the property. I did not see Westgate on our credit report. I contacted Westgate and found out that they do NOt report monthly as paid and that the package that we thought we had was not what we thought we signed up for. THe conversation in the final closing was recorded. So I asked that the tape be reviewed for fraud. I was told that all the tapes are destroyed afte 90 days. Westgate has NO Fraud team or remedy for victims of fraud. All they offered was a letter of hardship asking me for all my bills, stating that I can not afford it. I tried this remedy that was given by their customer service. It went no where. The next time I heard from Westgate was from a 3rd party collection agency. I am now on a mission to get some solid regulation of companies like Westgate. I will NEVER give Westgate another dime!!! I am seeking those who will protest Westgate and other scam timeshare companies. email me at siennadow@ymail.com. I will never stop until Westgate has recognize the power of free people in this nation. I have recieve various nightmare stories from others out there. We are oraganizing a peaceful protest this spring in Washington D.C. PLease if u are a victim come out and help us take them down.

The timeshare system is great! The problem is the sales people that will do and say anything to get he deal. The same way the closers (the people that make you sign the documents once you agree to purchase) they tell you that they are for the purchaser's benefit yet they hide the documents so if you change your mind the chances of cancelling the contract are minimal. It is against the law! they should disclose the cooling off period to you. If you've been told that you could not cancel the deal by the sales person or the closer you can report them to the Florida real estate division at www.myflorida.com include their name in he complaint.
